I was just going through a recent batch of photos and thought these pictures formed a pretty good snapshot of Sam right now.

Silly Sam:
Sam is always making up his own silly games these days. Yesterday he made up this one. (Sorry for the bad pictures. I only had my phone).
Step 1: Grab a pair of nail clippers (any small object will do).
Step 2: Throw the nail clippers into a huge bag of legos and shake.
Step 3: Fish out those little clippers (this is the tricky part!). Make sure to give yourself a big round of applause and then repeat.
Sam had a mystery word and for the longest time we could not figure out what he was saying. It sounded kind of like “ah broosh!” and he said it all the time. Then a few days ago I figured out he was imitating me saying “all right!” I had no idea I said that so often!
Last Monday we had some beautiful, warm weather. I think it was up to 70 degrees by 10:00 a.m.! So we met our friends Deirdre and Evie for a morning at the park. They had told us about this great playground with a weird name. It’s a perfect park for little ones because all of the equipment is ramped. Our two toddlers had a blast running up and down, and we could easily chase after them. They also had swings, a maze, and fun little things to climb in and out of.
Last weekend, when we had some nice weather, we decided to take Henry to the dog park. I’m pretty sure the poor guy hasn’t been since Sam was born. At first Sam stayed outside of the fenced in area with me and looked in. But after a few of the dogs left, we let Sam run around with Henry. He was very excited to see so many dogs in one place.
He kept shouting out the four words/sounds he knows associated with dogs. He repeated this sequence about 50 times: “Hen-nuh (Henry), woof woof, da-da (dog), baaah!”
Sam is not quite ready for crayons. He has shown a little more interest in them, and has tried to copy me when I scribble, but he doesn’t seem to exert enough pressure for the crayons to actually make a mark. He usually gets fed up within 30 seconds and tries to eat the crayons or throw them to the floor.
But he IS ready for stickers. My grandparents sent him a fun Valentine’s Day card that came with ocean-themed stickers. He found it a little frustrating at first because he couldn’t figure out how to get the stickers off of his fingers. But after a little hard work. He really got into it.
Today Sam is 17 months old! Wow! He is almost one and a half. Some of you may have noticed that I didn’t do a 16 month post, so I am combining them. Here we go:
A few more pictures from the past two months:
Sam and I had a fun morning at Nordstrom last week! I picked up a few cute shirts for him and even took him into a dressing room to try them on. Then we went to lunch at Nordstrom Cafe. Sam had a cheese and cracker plate with fruit.
As we were walking out, Sam noticed this display with the Chocolate Lab and shouted “Hen-nuh! Hen-nuh!” in his loud booming voice. I had to go show him that actually that dog was fake, and not his beloved Henry.
All in all a very succesful shopping trip!
